Did you ever wonder why the translation you are reading seems so tame that the prophets wouldn’t have been troubled by the authorities? In the Siapherkone Version of the Bible you will have your answer. Anyone who spoke like the prophets in this version would have upset the powers that be, been threatened, been beaten, and also killed on account of the outrageous comments they made.
The translator of this version, Dean Williams, has spent a lifetime as a Bible reader. He was frustrated as a young man by the bland ambiguous prose of most translations. He developed a passion that all be able to understand the Scriptures and see the big picture. His translation combines language that carries the emotional content of the original, while providing helps that allow the seeker a chance to put the Bible in its basic historical and political setting. He has attempted where possible to translate the Hebrew idiom into an English idiom to add color and power to the language.
Rev. Williams is an ordained Lutheran pastor with 30 years experience in ministry Before this he was in the US Army, serving two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He has also worked in restaurants and agriculture, studied engineering and accounting, in addition to graduate degrees in Biblical Studies and Divinity.
All this variation in experience is reflected in this translation. Insights in construction, production agriculture, rural life, business, and warfare will highlight your understanding of this readable translation. It could also be used as a small group Bible Study source.
